The Political Science Department is best with its distinguished faculty and contribution to academic research, social and public policy in India and abroad. It offers M.A., M.Phil and Ph.D programmes.

The core research areas of the department include Indian Political Thought, International Politics, Human Rights, Gender Studies, Rural Development and Governance, Parties and Elections and Northeast India studies. Faculty have published many books with reputed publishers, articles in refereed journals both national and international, and have participated in important research projects in India and abroad.
